Arembepe - Coqueiros Coast

Arembepe is approximately 30 km from Salvador, to the north. The most famous hippie village of Brazil is a district of Camaçari, city that houses beautiful beaches and one of the largest petrochemical center in the country. Its beauty has enchanted personalities like Janis Joplin and Novos Baianos, that had long stays there during the 60's of the 20th century. Several rustic cabins are spread over an area surrounded by Capivara river and the natural pools formed by the reefs. The beach is also has one of the most important environmental protection initiatives in Brazil: The Tamar Project, non-profit organization that protects sea turtles from extinction in the Brazilian coastline.
